Marty Seifert was born in Springfield, Minnesota. He was raised on a small family farm near Clements, MN and graduated from Cedar Mountain High School in Morgan, MN.
After graduating from Southwest Minnesota State University, he taught high school, was a University Admission Counselor and member of the Minnesota House of Representatives for seven terms, including three years as the House Minority Leader. He was a candidate for Governor of Minnesota in 2010 and 2014.
Mr. Seifert later became Executive Director of the Avera Marshall Foundation, a hospital in Marshall, MN, where he played an instrumental role in raising millions of dollars to construct, equip and operate a new cancer treatment facility. Since 2015, he has been employed in government relations with Flaherty & Hood, P.A.
He has also been active in Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, a volunteer counselor with the American Legion Boys State Program, a member of the Lyon County Historical Society, Sons of the American Legion, SMSU Alumni Association and Shades of the Past Car Club. Passions include his family, history, antique cars and old engines. He dabbles in real estate, politics and travel.
Seifert lives in Marshall, Minnesota with his wife Traci and children Brittany and Braxton.
